Wow, wow, wow
what else is there to say? This last year has been one for the ages. However, I have not stopped painting or creating... after being in a stupor for the past year, as here in Ontario Canada we have had many lockdowns which essentially just mentally drained me. However, I have been reinventing myself my creative juices this past winter lockdown as what else was there to do. The artisan shop that I work at and sell at was closed so I could not even do any paint classes which I have come to enjoy. I got myself creative with papercrafting like making mini journals, mini card sets, cards of course. Something about the pretty paper gets me everytime... I have to learn that it is ok to cut it and make it into something else.. I am taking new painting tutorials so I can explore new ways to paint flowers and explore other subjects I have been avoiding painting. Most of my followers are on Facebook & Instagram and I do know many are here as well, so I will try to post more often of the new items I have been creating. I did set up a new shop, MY BOUTIQUE, where I plan on selling my easier to ship items especially to my out of local area customers. If you see something, let me know and we can make arrangements to get it to you! In the meantime, here is a fun painting I did recently that I am so happy about. I am currently making cards out of them and will post when done. So here is to the next phase of life and i wish you all the JOY in the world. My mami, Josie, just tickled my brain and reminded me that yes, I learned to paint because of her, she has now been gone since May 2012, I still shake my head on how time passes yet I see her clearly in my mind's eye. So to all the mom's out there HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY ... hope this painting brings JOY to your heart! with joy, diane

This dresser is part of my first "expensive" furniture set that I bought once I had started working fulltime. It was a blonde wood set that I figured would last me a long time... .it has been about 30years!!... The "before" picture was probably taken two phones ago.. lol... at that time I had painted it in my absolute fav colour #AnnieSloanChalkPaint #duckeggblue. I also was on Pinterest looking at all kinds of inspirations to 'finish the piece"... i did not even clear wax yet.... About a year later, I added the #chicmouldings.com beautiful roses... painted those white first.. then months later.. blue... then I painted the top drawer old white.... .. still no wax yet... more pinterest searches... then last week I went to get some more chalk paint at B/A Vintage Stockist in Whitby and saw the beautiful #PrimaMarketingTransfers in the shop... I knew right then and there that this was the icing on the cake.... so TADA... finally completed... 3 years later... classics take time... clear waxed and some dark wax as well to give it the old world feel... I just love it.... OMG

I was busy loving the water and outdoor weather this past summer at my new home. It has been awhile since I painted and finally brought out my paints this past year. I am going to be moving more into the furniture painting area next year, 2017. I am excited about it and after finishing pieces in my own home and I ready to take on items to sell again!!. You can also FOLLOW ME on FACEBOOK at: Josie's Joys HandPainted Giftware Please also support fellow artists with THE ARTISANS MARKET LOGO (as seen above) when buying painted furniture online. TAM is a group of painters that take pride in their craft and offer up pieces that are a fair price in the market place. It takes more to painting furniture then just slapping on a can of chalk paint. Here is the TAM site that I sell my pieces on: The Artisan Markets Keep on Dreamin Big!! cheers diane |
